Small SUVs provide many benefits – some are utilitarian and versatile, while others are also sporty and luxurious. Two models that top the segment are the 2018 Porsche Macan and the 2018 Audi SQ5. Both exude luxury and style without compromising performance. We encourage you to test-drive both, because we’re confident you’ll prefer the Macan, with the power and ride that sets Porsche apart from the rest.
You can choose among five turbocharged engines for the Porsche Macan. The top one is a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 that delivers 440 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, matched with a PDK 7-speed automatic transmission and good for a zero to 60 mph time of 4.4 seconds. The SQ5 is equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 putting out 354 horsepower and 369 horsepower. If you want power and performance, Porsche Macan has the perfect engine for you.
All Porsche vehicles provide sporty handling, and Macan is a prime example. It features awesome traction on all kinds of surfaces due to full-time all-wheel drive. For capable off-road performance, you can press a button that tweaks throttle response and torque distribution. The Macan’s PDK 7-speed automatic transmission is designed to efficiently control the vehicle’s high-powered output. The Audi SQ5 is also a good handler but doesn’t achieve the same high level of off-road performance.
Although the base Macan is already a great performer, you can select upgrades that will thrust the vehicle to new heights. These include Porsche Torque Vectoring, air suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes, dash-mounted stopwatch, launch control, and a Sport Plus driving mode that tightens steering, creates harder damping, modifies the rev limiter, and changes throttle response. SQ5 also offers an air suspension option.
