2018 PORSCHE 911 VS Jaguar F-Type

Serving North Olmsted, Strongsville, & Cleveland, OH

There are not too many sports cars that are as exciting and fun-to-drive as the 2018 Porsche 911 and the 2018 Jaguar F-Type. These cars go fast, but that’s just the beginning. The each offer iconic looks and exquisite handling. You’ll love test-driving both, but in the final analysis, we’re confident the Porsche 911 will win the day.

Powertrain

The engines powering of the 2018 Porsche 911 are variations of the iconic flat-6, or boxer, engine, all with dual turbochargers except for the naturally aspirated 911 GT3. The most powerful version found on the all-wheel-drive 911 GT2 RS — a 3.8-liter twin-turbo, making a neck-snapping 700 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque through your choice of 7-speed transmissions – manual or dual-clutch automatic – that’s capable of a zero to 60 mph time of 2.7 seconds. The top 2018 F-Type is the SVR, outfitted with a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 that delivers 575 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, powering all four wheels through an 8-speed automatic. It takes 3.5 seconds to hit 60 mph from a standing start.

Seating

The Porsche 911 seats four, double that found in the F-Type. Although small, the 911 rear seat is unexpectedly useful. The Porsche is an excellent daily commuter thanks to the comfortable, upright driver’s seat. The front seats have partial leather upholstery and 4-way power adjustment. The two seats in the F-Type are thinner for 2018 to carve out more room for tall drivers.

Suspension

Porsche Active Suspension Management is standard on the 911. It optimizes ride, especially in corners, through the use of active dampers. You can opt for rear-wheel steering that increases maneuverability and stability. The Front Axle Lift System protects the Porsche’s front fascia from road scrapes by employing hydraulics that raise the car 1 1/2 inches at speeds below 38 mph. Dynamic Chassis Control removes body roll with a matrix of hydraulic motors and sensors. F-Type offers a double-wishbone suspension front and rear with dynamic damping.
